Shibumi (渋味) means subtle beauty or understated elegance in Japanese, which is exactly our understanding of classic menswear: classic without being old-fashioned, simple without being boring. Born in 2012 with the goal to make high quality handmade ties, we’re now popular among style aficionados all over the world. Known for our exclusive printed silk designs and curated selection of unusual fabrics and weaves, we also offer a wide range of pocket squares, braces, scarfs and other classic men’s accessories. We’re proud to welcome our customers now in our Florentine showroom.
Florence - the birthplace of Renaissance and still the capital of art and craftsmanship in Italy, is also home of Shibumi. Located in Via di Santo Spirito 11, the artisan neighbourhood of Florence with traditional craftsmen and creative modern artists, we feel in the right place. It’s easy to find inspiration in the streets of cobblestone, on which Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Dante and hundreds of other important historical persons walked.
Shibumi is based in the first floor of Palazzo Frescobaldi, a beautiful Renaissance palace built in 1644. Connected to Santo Spirito church with its clean architecture through a beautiful and relaxing private garden, we feel very much at home here. Famous around the world, Frescobaldi is a Florentine noble family and prominent Tuscan wine producer in its 31st generation with more than 700 years of history. Being located in such a historical building and city, strongly linked to art and craftsmanship, this is the perfect place to provide you with the best classic menswear accessories.
