Product information "7-Fold Shantung Grenadine Tie - Olive - Handrolled"

Handmade in Italy

Fabric: 100% silk
Length: 147cm (= 58 inch)
Construction: 7-fold hand rolled

Plain colored sevenfold tie made up in shantung silk in grenadine weave, a wonderfully summer classic. Works perfectly with rather informal summer outfits, we especially like it with a blue glencheck suit, pink striped shirt, Tsukanoma pocket square, espresso barathea braces and brogues.

Sevenfolds are the the pinnacle of craftsmanship and the dream of every tie aficionado. The difference between Shibumi sevenfolds and almost every other tie is that there is no lining. So the tie just consists of the upper silk (and thread, of course), folded inwards seven times to give the tie the necessary volume. This construction method is very puristic and elegant, but at the same time luxuriously lavish.

In the heart of the Italian silk industry, Como, lies one of the oldest silk weavers in Europe. Founded in mid-19th-century, at first as a supplier of silk for furnishings and clothing, they began to make silk for ties when it took its modern shape at the beginning of the 20th century. To this day, a lot of historic, wooden looms are in use, which have not been produced in decades. But there is no substitute for them: our popular grenadine silk is woven on them, for example. We just love this heritage of Italian craftsmanship and we do our best to keep those traditions alive.
